When will Special Order be ready?
Ah, yes.

Special Order is a half-hour story about a young lady in an antiquarian bookstore (read: collectible and very expensive), who one day encounters an unsettlingly unusual man who asks her to conduct a search for the Necronomicon. (The Necronomicon is a book of demonic and unearthly lore that figures prominently in the work of H P Lovecraft. It is a fictional plot device: Although several people have used the title for various unrelated purposes since Lovecraft, the book as Lovecraft described it does not exist.)

The original unpublished story is by Oreta Taylor, John Campbell and Terry Sanders. Daniel Taylor adapted it for audio in 1993. It has been performed at all of ARTC's usual haunts, including Dragon*Con, Under ConStruction, and NecronomiCon in Tampa FL, and very warmly received by all who have heard it. It was taken into the studio in 1995, and the voice tracks are complete, awaiting postproduction.

And there the saga waits, for now. Every time we start to move on it, the Real World intervenes. Medical problems, or real paying work for our volunteer producer, or other ARTC productions with a clear deadline, elbow it out of its place in our production schedule. It seems that at any given point in ARTC's history, there must be one Cursed Production. For years it was The Invisible Man.

Now, it's Special Order.
