Contextless Surfing From the Theatre of the Mind
Returns and Privacy Policies
Well, "dramatic audio" is a misleading term: Although we are best known for our adaptations of the works of H P Lovecraft (with the kind permission of Arkham House), our catalog covers a wide range of subject matter. From the horror of Lovecraft, to the seminal science fantasy of H G Wells, to our own original works in dark fantasy, science fiction, romance, pulp adventure, parody and humor; wherever your imagination can take you.
Yes, your imagination. All we do is set the scene in your mind. We give you voices, sound effects, ambient atmosphere: You build the sets, you give faces to the voices, you design the costumes. This is truly the "Theater of the Mind", as practiced in the Golden Age of Radio.
Put another way, we were "virtual reality" when "virtual reality" wasn't cool.
Our web page changes frequently. Please let us know what you think of the page, and what you'd like to see on it. Suggest other pages we can link to, or that might link to us. If you've written or produced radio drama, we'd especially like to hear from you.
We're a little bit like a lot of things, but not exactly like anything else. That's clear as mud, right?
Are we a neighborhood theater company without a theater? Or are we a radio theater without a radio station? Are we "new old-time radio"? We like to think that we're what traditional radio drama and comedy might have become, if it had lasted long enough in the United States to take advantage of today's technology and dramatic techniques.
For those who think us a little too loosely wrapped for investing so much time and energy in a dead art form: It's not dead. It's largely moribund in America, although there are still dozens of companies here who produce dramatized radio programs. Elsewhere in the world, particularly at the BBC, radio thrives as a storytelling medium. And we have confidence that sooner or later, the US will catch up.
Perhaps the best label for us, if you must have one, is "Small-Press Audio Publisher".
